Make A Difference

Now is the Time to Take Action for Young Children

Experiences in the earliest years of life play a critical role in a child’s ability to grow up healthy and ready to learn. But when early experiences fail to support infants, toddlers, or preschoolers their ability to learn, grow, and succeed is compromised. Unfortunately, young children ages birth to 5 often don’t have a voice and as a result their needs are inadequately addressed in public policy. This Web site was built with private dollars to support the Durham community in advocating and education others about the critical needs of young children.

It’s paramount during these tough economic times when public funding for young children is in jeopardy. We urge legislators to ‘hold the line’ and maintain our early childhood system for young children today with preventive measures that support school success, our nation, our state and the community or children of Durham will be left behind.

Durham’s Partnership for Children, a Smart Start Initiative, has assembled advocacy tools and resources to help you be a Champion for our youngest children.
